Every man for himself?

People seem way too preoccupied with the lives of others at the wrong times. People tell others things or say them behind their backs, e.g. “You should be ashamed of yourself for being gay” or “Ew, she needs to lose some weight”

I wonder what gives people the right to do this. I mean, what does that quote say “Don’t judge me until you’ve walked a mile in my shoes”? You can’t really judge someone’s life if you’re not the one living it or tell someone they’re doing something wrong if you’re not the one doing it.

Yet when it comes to the time when others need help people turn a blind eye and only look out for themselves. It goes from trying to have opinions on everyone to every man for himself just like that.
